Q. I recently read about a young man who quit the school choir rather than sing a praise song to Allah. That got me thinking. With what you know from your studies of religion, does any other belief system claim that their “God” is the creator of the universe and everything in it? Can we know for sure that our God is the one and only?”

A. I don’t know if other religions deal with the Creation, or if so how they do it. But I do know that the God of the Bible not only claims He’s the only one, He validates Himself through prophecy. He does this by telling us in advance that He’s going to do something and then He does it. None of the other so-called Holy Writings contain the record of their god predicting and then performing with 100% accuracy. Our Bible does and in it God even challenges us to find someone else like Him. In Isaiah 44:6-8, He says:

“This is what the LORD says— Israel’s King and Redeemer, the LORD Almighty: I am the first and I am the last; apart from me there is no God.

Who then is like me? Let him proclaim it. Let him declare and lay out before me what has happened since I established my ancient people, and what is yet to come—yes, let him foretell what will come.

Do not tremble, do not be afraid. Did I not proclaim this and foretell it long ago? You are my witnesses. Is there any God besides me? No, there is no other Rock; I know not one.”

This is God’s two question test to those who claim they’re like Him. “Tell us everything that’s happened in the past, then tell us everything that will happen in the future.” Then He says, “Don’t worry. No one can pass this test but me.”
