An Irrevocable Decision

Q. I was saved at a very young age before I was truly subjected to the evils of this world and as I grew older I drifted away from God. In my teenage years I was in full backslide mode and using drugs, and one night while under the influence of drugs I renounced my salvation. Just typing those words makes me sick, the night the words came out of my mouth I immediately felt pain and regret for uttering such a thing. Later I re-dedicated myself to God, but my question is can someone who is saved renounce their salvation?
A. There are several verses in the New Testament that lead to the undeniable conclusion that once we’re saved we can’t renounce our salvation. In John 6:39 Jesus said it’s His father’s will that He would lose none of those who had been given to Him. In John 10:27-30 He said no one can take us out of either His or His Father’s hands. No one includes us. Romans 8:38-39 confirms this.
In Ephes. 1:13-14 Paul said our inheritance is guaranteed from the moment we believe. In 1 Cor. 6:19-20 he said we’re no longer our own but were bought at a price. 1 Peter 1:18-19 says that price was the blood of Jesus. And in 2 Cor. 1:21-22 he said God has put His seal of ownership on us and put His Spirit in our hearts as a deposit guaranteeing what is to come.
When we’re saved we’re purchased by God with the blood of Jesus and marked with His seal of ownership, so we no longer have the authority to renounce our salvation. Our decision to accept His death as payment for our sins is irrevocable, and neither we nor anyone else in Heaven or on Earth or under the Earth can ever do anything to change that.
