What the Bible says about light and seed

The True Light "In him, (the Lord Jesus) was life, and that life was the light of men. The light shines in the darkness, but the darkness has not understood it. The true light that gives light to every man was coming into the world,…the world didn’t recognize him." John 1:4,9.

The Good Seed and the Weeds “The kingdom of heaven is like a man who sowed good seeds in his field. But while everyone was sleeping, his enemy came and sowed weeds among the wheat and went away. Matthew 13:24,25.

Reflection on Old Wounds and Scars

Written and published by Jean Louis Mondon.

This is a recurring occurrence in many of the people's lives that I encounter as I grow older. Nobody likes staying in a place of discomfort without a possible exit to a better situation or condition.

We still have a choice in the matter. We can opt to stay in a wasteland, dark and a no-exit existential repeating to oneself the preferred mantra of the French philosopher Jean-Paul Sartre, champion of the “blame everybody else” game and wallow in self pity and reality denial. The distorted flawed expression of  "l´Enfer, c´est les Autres!” “Hell is the Others” has captured the mind and hearts of entire generations of unsuspecting students, French and otherwise, creating a maelstrom of sweeping discontent in societies that had survived horrible scourges of wars, natural disasters, revolution without seeing the flickering light of hope at the end of a dark tunnel.

This dangerous, cancerous attitude of a defeatist mind-set is the descent into a gradual destruction and abandonment of the self as something that is gift to human beings.

However, the mind is a beautiful thing that can furnish the tools needed to find a better, more propitious horizon. Of course, this requires patience and resolve and digging deep to find the causes at the root of the problems.

It takes time for old wounds to heal. But the fading of the scars can signify that where there existed a horrible wound, the healing process took because of our body's inner healing mechanism and the help of competent doctors equipped with the resources of modern medicine.

Here the will and the power of choice comes into play and will determine the outcome . At this stage, there is a self-imposed blindness that establishes a wall of self-denial that leads a person to choose to wallow in self-pity and consistently blames the other person or persons for their dark interpretation of their failures.

Does that resonate with you?

I have lived through some of these momentary, sometimes seemingly interminable stages and have succumbed to the temptation of giving up and look for an escape route that would end all my problems. We all experience these dark episodes and know well the remedies that are offered to us are mostly lies that we accept without weighing in the consequences of our wrong actions and the principle of diminishing returns leading nowhere but up against the unending wall of mirrors showing a distorted image of who we are.

Somehow, we are attracted to seemingly benevolent and well-meaning persons willing to come to our help. I am not blaming them, for some of them are genuinely interested in our well-being and recovery.

But there must be an active participation in the healing process from the person in need. This essential element is crucial between the two facets in the person's make-up if the healing is to be successful. The person will have to have a perfect mirror that reflects a true picture of himself/herself that will allow a full recovery of all that was lost in the past.

I am not minimizing the reality nor the importance of the wounds inflicted or the degree of suffering felt. There is however a remedy provided the Creator of our souls and spirits that has gained a victory over death and has provided a way out of this horrible predicament while we are still alive and can exercise our free will and make the right decision about this life or death matter.

His name is Jesus Christ. The Word of God, the Bible states in Acts 4:12

Peter and John Before the Council
…11This Jesus is ‘the stone you builders rejected, which has become the cornerstone.’ 12 Salvation exists in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to men by which we must be saved.” 13When they saw the boldness of Peter and John and realized that they were unschooled, ordinary men, they marveled and took note that these men had been with Jesus.…

Definition of Salvation and Savior in Greek and Hebrew:

The Greek word for salvation is soteria, which comes from the word soter meaning "savior". The Hebrew word for salvation is yeshu'ah, which means "rescue".

Greek Soteria

Means deliverance from danger, destruction, and peril. It can also mean restoration to a state of safety, soundness, health, and well-being.

Greek Sozo

Means salvation, but also being physically healed of diseases, delivered from enemies, and free from the judgment and wrath of God.

Hebrew

  • Yeshu'ah: Means "rescue". It is also the Aramaic and shorter Hebrew version of the name Yehoshua, which means "Yah is rescue".

Salvation is a major doctrine in the Bible that describes the work of God on behalf of men. It includes redemption, reconciliation, propitiation, conviction, repentance, faith, regeneration, forgiveness, justification, sanctification, preservation, and glorification.

Are you saved, friend? If not, ask the Savior. His Name is Jesus. He understands you, your language, even when you cannot express verbally what is is in your heart and mind. He is faithful, and true and will never betray you. He is willing and able to do the impossible.

He, the Son of God who said: “Come to me, all you who are weary and heavy laden and I will give you rest” is waiting for you.

Will you ask Him and be saved, rescued, set free and be made whole with a new beginning, a new life and a new hope ?
